Welcome to BalancingToolChain (BTC)

BalancingToolChain (BTC) is a DTU workflow for short-term power-system balancing studies with two connected model layers:

1. Hour-Ahead Balancing of the Power System (HA)

2. Area and Frequency Control (AFC)

Quick Start

If you are new to BTC, follow this sequence:

1. Install prerequisites and the BTC package (see Installation)

2. Prepare required DA and VRE input data (see Input Data)

3. Run preprocessing to generate HA batch folders (see Running BTC)

4. Execute HA batches in order and then run AFC as needed

Documentation Scope

These docs focus on installation and execution of BTC workflows. Project-specific input datasets are not bundled in this repository and must be requested from the maintainers when needed.

Building These Docs Locally

From the docs directory, run:

make html

On Windows Command Prompt, you can also use:

make.bat html

Generated HTML will be available under build/html.
